We went to church on Sunday and Chloe was fussier this time than last time. I didn't realize that there was a funeral service so the church was a lot busier than usual. I thought that I might have to take her out early because she was starting to scream but I rocked her and she fell asleep without disturbing the funeral service.
The only one who did cause a disturbance that day was Princess Poodle (I've changed her name to maintain her anonymity). The first time I brought Chloe to church, the priest's wife came up to me to warn me about Princess Poodle. She's a dog who has an anxiety disorder and rips up the house if her owner leaves her alone, so Princess Poodle has to come to church every Sunday. The priest's wife told me that she is a nervous dog so she lashes out and to not approach her or let the baby near her. Princess Poodle sits on the seat next to her owner and everyone ignores her because apparently she's a biter, so they just give her space. It's obvious that no one likes her. Princess Poodle saw Chloe last time and was a bit aggressive toward her so I stay on the other side of the aisle from her.
Well, Princess Poodle strolled in on Sunday and little did she know, there was a rival dog present! I'll call him Floppy Ear Dog. He was a cute fluffy dog and they didn't see each other until the widow's wife was was making her eulogy. Princess Poodle and Floppy Ear Dog suddenly locked eyes and it was on! They were barking, growling and lunging at each other, you couldn't even hear what the widow's wife was saying. Both owners were yanking their dogs back on the leashes and Floppy Ear Dog's front paws weren't even touching the ground. Everyone pretended to be aghast and just focus on the widow, but internally I think they were all thinking FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! :p Everyone was backing Floppy Ear Dog, but his owner hauled him out of the church and slammed the door behind him. You could still hear the barking on the other side of the door and Princess Poodle kept barking and growling. Once Princess Poodle stopped her owner was loudly calling out "it wasn't her! She didn't start that!" but no one looked at her, and the widow carried on. It was quite the show.
Since going to church Chloe has become a little preacher, she's constantly holding out her hand and spreading the word of Baby Power. Dad came over on Saturday and we started baby proofing the house a bit. Here's a pic of her showing him the way of Baby Power.
He thinks she is posing like Julius Caesar though, so you know I had to do a side by side comparison and I think he's right.
It must be her Italian roots pushing through!
Here's another random Baby Power picture
On Saturday night we went out to Red Robins for an early birthday dinner for me and she didn't scream at the restaurant which was good, I think she gets interested by the different sounds and smells so that's why she is good in public.
She likes sitting in her rocking chair, here are a few pictures. I like the first one because she looks sophisticated and like she's contemplating life.
She's also getting use to her high chair (thanks AJ!) but she doesn't like sitting in it for long yet, she prefers us to wheel her around in it.
