Two Month Immunizations

Chloe had her 2 month immunizations yesterday. I think I was more upset about it than she was. I was expecting a lot of screaming and thrashing. My husband didn't ask who would hold her, he took her as soon as we got into the room. Maybe he thought I would run out the door with her when the needle came out (the thought may have crossed my mind). I sat in the corner next to a potted plant wringing my hands while the nurse got things ready. Before injecting Chloe, the nurse told my husband and I that a side effect could be that she sleeps a lot for the next two days. I was broken out of my trance with Chloe's chubby little legs to exchange hopeful glances with my husband - that would be wonderful - crossed both of our minds.
The injections were faster than I thought they would be, and although Chloe screamed, she didn't cry and was completely over it before we even got her redressed. The nurse asked me if she is generally a calm baby, and I responded "not when the sun goes down." We took her back out to the waiting room where we sat for 15 minutes to make sure she didn't have any allergic reactions. There were a bunch of other babies getting their two month shots, all screaming and crying, but not Chloe. Instead, she looked up at me with the most ticked off expression on her face, clearly thinking "you did me wrong Ma, you did me wrong."

After 15 minutes we were allowed to leave, so we put her back in her stroller and rolled through the waiting room where she looked at all the other babies waiting to go in as if to say "that ain't no thing."

We took her home, thinking "great, maybe she'll pass out for the rest of the day and sleep all night!" Nope, not our daughter. She was up most of the day and kept her usual witching hour routine from 7pm to midnight, and finally drifted off around 12:30. I didn't realize we have to do this again at the 4 month mark, hopefully she takes it like a champ again!
