We went to church on Sunday and Chloe was fussier this time than last time. I didn't realize that there was a funeral service so the church was a lot busier than usual. I thought that I might have to take her out early because she was starting to scream but I rocked her and she fell asleep without disturbing the funeral service. The only one who did cause a disturbance that day was Princess Poodle (I've changed her name to maintain her anonymity). The first time I brought Chloe to church, the priest's wife came up to me to warn me about Princess Poodle. She's a dog who has an anxiety disorder and rips up the house if her owner leaves her alone, so Princess Poodle has to come to church every Sunday. The priest's wife told me that she is a nervous dog so she lashes out and to not approach her or let the baby near her. Princess Poodle sits on the seat next to her owner and everyone ignores her because apparently she's a biter, so they just give her space. It...

We think she's getting closer to rolling herself over back to front. She will never lay straight anymore, she always turns herself so that her feet go from the 6:00 position to the 12:00 position. Sometimes she'll make a full spin. We always find her sideways in her playpen and in her crib. Here's a picture of her sideways in the playpen, she's making her classic expression which Marc calls the "oh, hi ma!" face. Whenever she is being mischievous and I "catch" her doing it, I hold my hands out and say what are you doing? And she makes this face back. Chloe's signature puff of hair on the back of her head has started to curl over so Marc is happy because he thinks this is a sign she has curly hair like him. I'm not positive she has curly hair though because it might just be the weight of her puff causing it to droop/curl over. We called her Coco Puff before she was born and now we call her Puff or Puffy because of her signature hair puff. ...

October 13, 2018 - First Play Date

Image
Chloe had her first play date with another baby. I dressed her in her unicorn shirt and rainbow socks, I'll attach a pic. Marc told her that he's a cute boy so she needs to be coy and not speak to him. She took Marc's advice and slept the whole time. The other baby was awake but oblivious to her. She didn't wake up until afterward when I took her to save on, it must have been the deals and savings that got her attention, she loves to shop. She still loves the car, we put her in a driving bib now so spit up doesn't get all over the car seat, I'll attach a picture, we think her driving bib is stylish.  She loves all of her bibs so much that she avoids throwing up on them and instead prefers to puke over her right arm so that it lands on the couch or us. We now have a sheet on the couch. I hold the bib up to try to catch the spit up and she'll move her mouth left to avoid the bib, so I follow with the bib, so she then strains upward to try to puke o...

November 8, 2018 - Final Newborn Diaper

Image
Chloe is officially out of newborn diapers! She's now proudly soiling size 1 diapers instead. The newborn diapers had different characters on them, and we think her favourite was the turtle. Her least favourite was Oscar the grouch; she liked to give Oscar something to really be grouchy about. We took a picture of her wearing her final turtle newborn diaper which I'll attach here. This was her last baby diaper before becoming a big girl! We tested out her little green seat for the first time the other day, she didn't seem to mind it for the first bit but then got fussy. It might have just been because it was the height of the witching hour though.

4 Month Sleep Regression

I had never heard of 4 month sleep regression until this week when she suddenly went from her usual sleep pattern back to screaming for hours before going to bed. It takes me back to her newborn days where she would scream all night. She is better than where we started of course, but she screams for a good hour before quieting down and then flippity flopping around in her crib for another hour (with random bouts of screaming) until she finally goes to sleep. When we think about it, she has spent every day training in her activity gym for this sleep regression thing. E gor the fluffy elephant dangling above her egged her on. He, and Tummy Time, have rendered her with robust neck and arm muscles allowing her to do push ups off my chest, throw her head back and wail straight up into the air like a fog horn in the night. She takes breaks between her screams to recharge on my chest and then pushes up again to wail repeatedly. "Oh wait, I don't think the neighbours heard the last o...

October 7, 2018 - Annnnnd FLEX!

Image
Chloe got a bath yesterday, she's getting better about having her body washed but is still indignant when it comes to washing her hair (she thinks nobody should touch her hair!) I can't blame her, a lady's hair should never be messed with. Her sleep is hit and miss. A week ago friday, she (and I) were up the entire night, we didn't fall asleep once because she cried the whole night so since then I've been trying different things with my diet and there seems to be a bit of an improvement lately so we'll keep experimenting to see how things go.  Her most appropriate bib is her Diva bib. Once a bib is put on her she knows food is coming so she flails her arms and legs, smacking and kicking us as if to say get away from me you fools! It's funniest when she wears the diva bib. She always strikes her power pose when done eating where she throws her arms up with clenched fists and just holds her fists in the air. This is her power pose in her diva bib....

The 5 Phases of Morning

Image
Chloe has always been a late riser. Even when she was a newborn and would scream all night, she would always sleep from 7am to 11am. I remember sitting up in bed with her just watching the clock all night long waiting for 7:00 to come because I would get a solid couple hours of sleep. Even now that she sleeps long stretches at night, she's still my teenage baby who I have to roust out of bed in the morning. I never let her sleep beyond 9:30, and I do it in what I call the 5 Phases of Coco. Phase 1 is when I come into her room, open her pink curtains and pivot her blinds so that her room is filled with morning light. That never is enough to wake her up so after 10 minutes I move into Phase 2. I open her door all the way and turn the hall light on. Phase 2 is successful some of the time but not always. Phase 3 is when I flick her bedroom light on. Usually this is enough to wake her up naturally and I let her flop around in her crib for a bit before getting her. As long as I don'...
